During the summer 2021, the first summer of the pandemic, the season of the Jupiler Pro League took off. While at the same time all cultural events were cancelled by the government(!) One afternoon at Onder Stroom with group of like-minded spirits we created the Cultural Pro League as a bold response to the seemingly arbitrary legislation targeting cultural events exclusively.
The idea sprouted from a simple question: What if we established our own football league with fellow cultural venues?
In response: we created football logo’s for 20 cultural venues and reached out to the big institutes to invite them to join our league. Our protest made national news and it even got approved by Mark Van Ranst.
